Ruth Konia

Ruth Konia is a Communication Expert  with many years experience in different aspects of developmental activities. She has a Diploma in Communication Arts from the Divine Word University and  has worked with numerous  organizations in  PNG and Australia. For more than 10 years she has worked with a number of PNG National as well as International NGOs as well as with the  private sector in PNG mainly in the areas of Communications, Media, Conservation and Community Development.. She also has served on the Board of the Media for Development,
a AusAID/PNG Government funding mechanism for improving Media in PNG.

During her career as Communication Expert she has acquired  also relevant skills and experience in Project Planning, Management, Budgeting and Monitoring. This integrated approach   has enabled her to ensure that the  targeted  rural communities in PNG benefit from  specific developmental activities.. This enlightening practical experience has stimulated her interests in the informal education sector. This determined her  to try to develop and implement education projects for the underprivileged people of Papua New Guinea to help them help themselves to improve their  quality of life.

1999-2002: Forest Information Campaign Officer/ Project Manager of the  Forest Information and Communications Project

2002-2009: Program Manager for Partners With Melanesians Inc. /Senior Scriptwriter and Project Coordinator for the Rainforest Literacy Project and Coordinator for the Consensus Building Program: All these programs are funded by the Norwegian Rainforest Foundation, Norway
